Abstract

The global technological advances which took place in recent years led to redefine the relationship between terrorism and communication from instrumental to ontological. This essay aims at analyzing the Islamic State’s terroristic strategy as a communicative phenomenon, examining its communication components: from the strategic purpose of the sender of the message to the spectator’s process of reception and the interaction between these aspects.
